Suzanne
Long of Murphy,
North Carolina, travels from Squirrels'
Nest Farm in
western North
Carolina to the
Blairsville Scottish
Festival and Highland
Games. She brings
an interesting
demonstration
of the herding
skills of the
Border Collie.
The demonstrations
are a fun
and informative
way to learn more
about these beautiful,
smart, working
dogs.
During
the demonstrations,
Suzanne explains the
background and history
of the Border Collie breed and how their instincts
and heritage developed
into the wonderful working
dog we see today. She
uses a small herd
of Dorset sheep and several
Border Collies to show
how these working dogs
do their jobs. Questions
are welcome, and there
are opportunities to
meet the dogs and sheep
after the demonstrations.
Suzanne's
dogs are from championship
ABCA registered lines. As a breeder, she is careful
to
socialize
each puppy to be ready
for its new home and
life adventures. Suzanne
is always interested in
your thoughts or questions
and welcomes visitors.
Suzanne,
along with her dogs Zeus,
Flo, Sukey and Mandy,
hope you will make plans
to attend the Blairsville
Scottish Festival, and
are confident you will
find it enjoyable as well
as educational.
