HulligansUncle Hamish and the Hooligans

Uncle Hamish and the Hooligans are a five-member Celtic rock band from the mountains of Western North Carolina. With a mix of haunting traditional Celtic instruments such as the Highland bagpipes, whistles, flute, mandolin, and other like instruments, what you get is the Hooligans.

Band members include: Shawn Dunham on bass, guitar, mandolin and vocals; Connell Sanderson on bagpipe, flute, whistle and bass; John Barden on guitar and vocals; Chip Smith on keyboards and vocals; Jim “J.B.” Black on drums and vocals. Once you experience Uncle Hamish and the Hooligans live, you’ll quickly understand why they are known as a hard working band on the Celtic rock scene. They will be performing at the Friday evening Ceilidh, and at Meeks Park on both Saturday and Sunday. Don’t miss them!

Celtic Folk Singer Colin Grant-Adams

Colin Grant AdamsSinger / songwriter /guitarist Colin Grant-Adams, originally from Oban, Scotland now lives in Glasgow, Kentucky. Grant-Adams has performed professionally for thirty years, entertaining audiences from the concert stages of Carnegie Hall, New York City to headlining venues across America at Celtic Festivals, folk clubs, concert halls, and has appeared on numerous television and radio shows.

Colin Grant-Adams' stimulating stage performance, fine guitar work, incorporating alternative tunings, and stirring vocals make him one of the most popular and versatile Scottish Balladeers in America today. His repertoire ranges from the well known classical songs: "Skye Boat Song," "Will You Go Lassie Go," and "Dark Lochnagar" to the contemporary, and traditional music of Scotland and Ireland to the Bluegrass music of Kentucky, plus his acclaimed original compositions, "Where the Rhododendrons Grow", "Blood in the Ground", "Scottish American", and "The Lone Piper".

On the funny and lighter side, especially for the ones that have attended or are familiar with Scottish Highland Festivals and Games, a song "A Tribute to a Scottish Spouse."(Words by Bob Edgar of Oregon)

Colin has been in the studio and is hoping to have a new CD in time to be released for the Blairsville Scottish Highland Games.

Tres de Solei

Tres de SoleiSometimes great things happen when they’re completely spontaneous.  Tres de Solei is one of those unplanned yet brilliant inventions.

So who are we?  We are Tres de Solei, and we are a unique three piece ensemble that plays Celtic music from Ireland, Scotland and Brittany.  We feature dazzling vocals and brilliant musicianship.  Oh yeah, we are unabashed!

What started out as a ‘fun” duo with Michael Robbins and Reva Paget (both of the BorderCollies) became a powerhouse trio with the additional of 16 year old Elizabeth Robbins on vocals. “Suddenly we had this band that was quickly becoming popular.  We started recording some of our material and things took off”, explains Michael.

So expect the unexpected. Anything from traditional Celtic to the Wailin Jenny’s to Dougie MacLean to Green Day and back to Robert Burns.  Expect to have fun!

The Oatcakes

Oatcakes

The Oatcakes, Scott Russell, guitarist, and Bill McClain, fiddler, perform in the Cape Breton style of traditional Scottish music. Scott has also been a mainstay of the Atlanta old time and contra dance scene for 30 years. He has played for numerous bands over the years, covering everything from traditional American fiddle music to Irish traditional music.

Bill has been involved with traditional music for many years. He has explored many styles of traditional music: Southern American, New England, Irish, Cajun, and Cape Breton style fiddling.
