Pipes
& Drums
North Atlanta Pipes & Drums was founded in 2007 by four seasoned musicians: pipers Bradford Beaton, Mark Blihovde, Robbie Rogers, and drummer J.J. Hayden. Their vision was to bring together a core of accomplished pipers and drummers that love playing and are ready to compete, while also welcoming developing players. The band is under the direction of Pipe Major Bradford Beaton and Drum Sergeant J.J. Hayden, two very well known musicians in the southeast.
The band was founded on a philosophy of good people, good musicians and good music. 2009 marked the band's first full competition season, where entering as a new Grade 5 band it placed 2nd at Greenville and 3rd at Charleston. In addition to competitions, North Atlanta Pipes & Drums performs at public and private events. Highlights last year included playing for the dedication of a new million-dollar pipe organ and playing for Memorial Day ceremonies. The band wears the Royal Stewart tartan. A small band with ambition and a big heart, NAPD welcomes talented, experienced pipers & drummers. Come join us!

a reputation for remarkable
showmanship and competitive
spirit. For over a quarter
century, John Mohr has
continued to perform the
timeless music of the
pipes and drums throughout
the Southeastern United
States.
John Mohr’s motto, Invictus (L. unconquerable),
reflects the spirit of the
band’s membership. Wearing
the brilliant red Mackintosh
tartan, John Mohr proudly
bears the name of the eighteenth-century
adventurer Captain John Mohr
Mackintosh, whose exploits
are in the chronicles of early-American
colonial history.
A member of the Eastern
United States Pipe Band Association
(EUSPBA), John Mohr competes
in EUSPBA Grade V pipe band
competitions throughout the
Southeast. In 1996, John Mohr

Centennial Olympic Games on
thirteen consecutive dates.
For sixteen years, John Mohr
was a featured participant
in the Stone Mountain Military
Tattoo. John Mohr also performs
as host band for the Stone
Mountain Highland Games in
Stone Mountain, Georgia.
The band is currently under
the musical direction of Richard
Smith, Pipe Major. The drum
corps is under the leadership
of Drum Sergeant Jennifer
Gregory. According to Drum
Major and Band President Gordon
H. Wilson, FSA (Scot), “John
Mohr's ongoing objective is
to perform the music of the
pipes and drums whenever and
wherever the occasion demands.
In doing so, we honor our
Celtic heritage and do our
part in continuing centuries-long
traditions.”
